Two people were reported missing, shops were washed away, and roads suffered damage. The rising water also inundated the Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple, with water reaching the Hanuman statue, though the sanctum sanctorum remained unaffected.
District Magistrate Savin Bansal confirmed that teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and PWD were deployed for relief efforts. “Two people are missing and rescue operations are in progress,” he said.
Locals Describe Temple Flood
Eyewitnesses said water started entering the temple cave around 4:45 a.m. and kept rising until it reached nearly 10–12 feet.
“The water went above the Shivling. We somehow climbed out with the help of ropes,” one local told ANI. Another resident added that floating logs damaged parts of the temple and urged people to stay away from the riverbanks.

Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman reported, “Damage has been recorded from Sahastradhara, Maldevta, and Mussoorie. Two to three people are missing in Dehradun. One death has been reported from Mussoorie and is being verified. Around 300–400 people have been relocated to safer areas.”
Overnight rainfall damaged roads, homes, and shops in several parts of Uttarakhand. A bridge was also washed away in the early hours of Tuesday.

Chandrabhaga River Swells in Rishikesh
Heavy rain also impacted Rishikesh, where the Chandrabhaga River crossed danger levels and flooded parts of the highway. SDRF teams rescued three stranded individuals, but several vehicles remain trapped. Officials have appealed to residents to stay away from swollen rivers and streams.
The Chief Minister said that the excessive rainfall had caused extensive damage to roads, bridges and government property in various parts of the state, severely affecting daily life.
He directed officials to ensure that blocked routes are reopened promptly and that the supply of safe drinking water and electricity is restored without delay.
Dhami further noted that state and district administration teams are working continuously on the ground, with all departments coordinating closely to carry out relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures. With river levels rising, he stressed that particular caution is being taken to address any potential emergencies.
Rain Havoc in Himachal Pradesh
Neighboring Himachal Pradesh also faced devastation after intense rainfall hit Mandi district. Dharampur bus stand was completely submerged, sweeping away state buses and private vehicles, including cars, scooters, and bikes.
“Son Khad River rose dramatically around midnight, flooding the bus stand and washing away vehicles,” said DCP Dharampur.
Water levels are now receding, but many homes and shops near the riverbanks remain inundated. Around 150 hostel students had to be moved to upper floors for safety.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), Himachal has recorded 404 monsoon-related deaths since June 20 — 229 due to rain-linked disasters like landslides, flash floods, electrocution, lightning, and house collapses. Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, Chamba, and Shimla remain the worst-hit districts.
